Saying Goodbye to Tilly The Twooth

Posted by on Jul 30 2015

With my upcoming departure for a job in Phoenix, and Mary’s departure for Los Angeles, and my mother’s Fulltime RVing health in question – we make the decision to send the Tioga that I bought for my mom on to a new owner who will appreciate her and not let her degrade in place like she would in storage indefinitely…

Hey YouTube!
I got somebody coming to look at the Tioga that I initially got for my mom. We’re not sure that she’s going to be in a health position to actually make a go of this all by herself.
So I thought before somebody comes and takes it away, I would give you guys a real quick tour!
Y’know, I wanna say it’s a 24 foot? It’s got a bed back here in the back.
Decent storage, Refrigerator works. There’s just not a whole lot to it.
Shower and bath in the back in the corner…
When we were at the RV show, we saw a bunch of ’em that were sorta similar floorplans. So, yeah, there’s not a ton…a ton to this. It needs some cleanup and some work, but if they do decide that they want it I think they’ll enjoy it quite a bit.
Well, the buyer for the Tioga showed up and looked it over and decided that he really wanted it, and so my mom and I (because the Tioga was in…)
Man, it’s like 105F (40.5*C) out today…
Because the Tioga was in Mary’s name, before she went back to Los Angeles she gave me Power of Attorney, and we went to DMV and spent about an hour and a half there.
We worked out a nice trade deal on this really sweet van for my mom! It’s got EVERYTHING!
It’s got solar (but it won’t keep the solar).
It’s got satellite dish (but it won’t keep the satellite dish).
It’s got an inverter! It’s got all kinds of stuff in it (that won’t actually stay with the van). That’s all going to the new owner and his Tioga…
But…we’re getting a parts list, so we’ll be able to re-create it.
And here is the Tioga and its new owner!
So everybody say hello to the new owner of the Tioga!

Nomadic Fanatic: Hey, Tilly 2.0! How about that…

OH! I didn’t tell you! Tilly actually has a name, and it’s kind of a family thing… The backstory is my parents were huge Victor Borge fans. He tells a story where he’s talking about Cinderella and the Wonderful Stepsisters. He increases the numbers any time there’s a number in the word, for instance the Wonderful Stepsisters become the Twoderful Stepsisters.

Nomadic Fanatic: Oh, Ok!

My littlest sister…who’s now 40…she got into this habit when she was learning her numbers of there’s Oneth, Twooth, Threeth, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, etc. She just made them all standardized! So THIS, is ‘Tilly the Twooth’. T W O O T H.

Nomadic Fanatic For sure!
So I was telling everyone about this cool new van that I got my mom! I said the buyer for the Tioga got here and offered this awesome trade!

Nomadic Fanatic: *chuckles* Everybody’s gonna know, though…

OK, so, that’s the buyer of Tilly the Twooth! Expect to see Tilly the Twooth coming to a YouTube Channel Near You!

And we have a very, very special guest during today’s, uh, session the buying and selling of various RVs!
We have a visitor!
So, Jax is out here, and Figaro is in the back, locked in the bedroom.

Nomadic Fanatic: What do you think, Jax?…I’m not done lookin’!

He’s like, “I can smell a cat, but I don’t see him! Is that OK?”
All in all, today has been a really awesome day! Lots of people got lots of things that they really really want. One of the things that we’re considering for my mom at this point is, because that’s a…250 series van, is finding her a travel trailer that she can pull behind it, so that she can travel from place to place and then park the trailer and still have the van to go do day-trips different places – which I think sounds like a LOT of fun!
Anyway, Eric and Jax are here.

Nomadic Fanatic: There’s cat-butt for ya!
Yeah! World’s greatest cat-butt…
Nomadic Fanatic: Oh, you found the catnip…

Figaro Goes Outside, Ep. 4 – Sacramento

Posted by on Jul 26 2015

In early July, Figaro wasn’t feeling well. He stopped eating, and then he stopped drinking, and then he stopped going to the bathroom and he was very warm.

I know that cats can “crash” in a matter of a day or two, so we made an appointment for him for the following day at a Vet Clinic in Del Paso Heights, CA.

We also fed him and watered him about 50ml of water the night before this with a syringe that we picked up at Walgreens. That helped a little, and the doctor said he wasn’t actually dehydrated (despite what I say at the beginning of the video!). After we got some water and tuna juice in him, he decided to pee on Mary’s laundry bag! (At least he peed!)

After his injections, he did bounce back to his normal self in about 3 hours, and was at 100% again in a couple of days.

Hey, Everyone!

I don’t know why I’m still wearing these…

I got an update! I went and looked at one of the potential jobs – I’m going to turn it down. As much as I would love to take it, it’s substantially less money than the other job – 10% less, and it’s much further away and would be much more expensive for me to get there. So I’m going to turn that one down. I’m still hoping for the really super awesome job to come through! But I got word today that the hiring manager is going wait until after she has talked to all of the candidates before making a decision, rather than just talking to one or two awesome ones and then picking from them. So, I don’t know how that’s going to go. I think that I’ve got a really great shot at it, and that one is 100% remote, which would be awesome.

In the interim, I’m going to be…I can talk about it a little bit…It’s, I’m going to be sending some paperwork to the recruiter, and I’m going to be working at Sprouts, in their corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona. So, I’m searching for a place to put the jacks down in Arizona. It’s gonna SUCK for the first couple of months, but I think Mister Figs there will be allright because we’ve got two air conditioners and 50 amp power!

Aside from that, I haven’t had a whole lot of time to do anything else yet. I got up this morning and dealt with some job stuff, surfed the internet for a little bit, answered all of your comments all day today, and then I went over to my mom’s house. My mom and I, we haven’t had a whole lot of time around each other in over a decade, so every time I go over there, it’s at least 4 hours of us just sitting and talking! I did some work for her, wrapped up some recycling, straightened up the garage a little bit… I did a terrible terrible thing and I introduced my mom to Reddit, and she went through and picked some subreddits and she said, “Now I’m never going to get anything done…at all.”

Then I came back here and messed around on the computer for a little bit, and now I’m shooting you guys a video!

I hope you guys had a fantastic day! Thank you for all the well wishes for Mary and myself. She says she’s looking forward to the job interview tomorrow. She’s hoping she does well at it. I was going to mention some other stuff she said, but I don’t remember it!

I’m going to send this out pretty much unedited! I’m going to Be Brave like RV Lady says!

Yeah, I think that’s about all I’ve got for tonight! On deck for tomorrow is maybe going and doing a little sightseeing while I have a little sights to see here, finishing up some paperwork, sending out some PDFs, and starting to get the coach ready because if I’m going to be in Phoenix for the 3rd of August, then I need to leave not later than the middle of next week. and there’s some stuff I’ve got to do around here to get ready for that!

So I hope you all had a fantastic day, and thanks for coming along for All The Adventure, None of the Scurvy! We’ll hopefully talk to you guys tomorrow!

OUT!

So, I’ve hinted at some big changes in a couple of comments recently, and….Today’s the day! As you might be able to see, the desk behind me is clean and clear, and there’s nothing on it anymore. Mary left to go back to Los Angeles about an hour ago. She has a job interview. She wasn’t able to put together any kind of employment here in Sacramento. Between that and us not being able to figure out mutual decision-making, she’s gone back to L.A.
She’s got a job interview on Friday and it looks like she’s going to get that at this point. Knock on wood.

She’s not the only person with big changes! I have had the phone ringing off the hook with different recruiters. Currently, at the moment, I have two offers and I’m expecting a third. I’m not going to say who they are or where they are yet…

So, anyway! Thank you for your well wishes! Thank you for Keep Your Chin Up, stuff will get better! The next couple of days may be kind of hard. We probably could have found a way to figure it out if she had been able to find a way to get re-employed, and that just didn’t happen, and…everybody needs money. It may not be the last that the channel has seen of Yarvette – she may put in cameo appearances from time to time – but in terms of being half the YarrVee crew…that’s just not working out at this point. We’ll see what the future holds.

The other big announcement is “YAY! Employment!”
It’s going to necessitate moving the YarrVee from Sacramento. (THANK YOU!) though some of the places where there may be an offer are maybe not so awesome (I’m looking at you, Phoenix)

And so, that’s the quick update! Expect to see more from me soon!

Thanks for liking, thanks for subscribing, thanks for commenting!
Thanks for coming along for All the Adventure and None of the Scurvy!
