On GoPro Number Three (This time, another Silver), we go over the 6600′ long, 135′ high Calcasieu River Bridge, and we stop at the Texas Welcome Center on I-10, where Mary has her second experience with Ingress – an exploratory game created by a sub-arm of Google about 2.5 years ago. It got us to walk allll the way out in the swamp! =)

Rick (The Static Nomadic) didn’t catch the crash I had while flying in Fort Walton Beach.

That’s OK…I did.

What Happened?
I was getting low on battery, and was lining up to land when the “autoland” feature kicked in. With the added weight of the gimbal and camera, the copter settled to the ground a LOT faster than I’m used to, and it was already low enough that I couldn’t catch it with additional throttle… It went from “stable hover” to “on the ground” in 2.016 seconds.
BAM…
Knocked a chunk out of one of the props (which gave Rick 3 spares), and the way the lens tapped a piece of gravel, it chipped off a piece on the inside of the lens producing that black spot.
The outside is fine and smooth, but you can see where there’s ‘spalling’ on the inside of the lens. =(

Just a quick update from Houston… =)

One day is not enough for this…If we’d had more time, we could (should!) have gone with our friends Brian and Maria (http://www.TheRoamingPint.com), Brandon and Kerensa (http://www.DriveDiveDevour.com) and Sam and Brenda this weekend.

Still, it’s like roaming on a Hollywood set. Where there are apartments for rent. I think someday we’ll rent one of those apartments for a few months.
