EDIT: For those who are asking, this is my mom’s channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEux2uQo6yzgqdqtcxjNOQg
I’d like to take a moment and welcome all the new viewers coming from various places around the internet in the wake of the Bertha/Tilly the Twooth trade last week.
I’m Jon and I’m a software developer. My current gig is in Phoenix, Arizona (right in the middle of Sweltering Hell season, at that!), and I live in my 30′ Thor Hurricane with my cat, Figaro.
It’s been a wild ride so far this year, and I hope you all decide to come along for All The Adventure, None of the Scurvy!

At the end of July, I left my mom in Sacramento and headed down to Phoenix to start a gig helping a customer implement the software platform I support in their company.
While doing that, I got to hang out with Mary for a while, and I got to go over the Grapevine in a Gas Coach – so I was able to form an opinion about the great Gas Vs. Diesel Vs. Hills debate.
Gas wins.

YARR!
After Eric spent most of the night in the comparative cool (80s cooling into the 70s, vs. the high of 106 yesterday) moving into Tilly the Twooth, Nomadic Fanatic and I delivered Bertha to my mom this morning. She was delighted. The van is so much smaller than the Tioga, she feels much more comfortable in/with it than she did the Tioga.
It’s obvious that Teah likes the new space MUCH more than she liked either the YarrVee or Tilly the Twooth, as well.
Off camera, my mom and I discussed the fact that the van is an E350 and has a towing capacity somewhere around 6000-7000 pounds. There is a very real possibility that the most feasible way for her to see the country in her golden years would be to ditch the rack on the back of the van, and substitute a moderately lightweight (3000-5000 pound) travel trailer – she could tow the trailer to a location, then use the van for overnight trips to see the sights away from her temporary home base.
(Of course, she’d need Lojack and a solid hitch lock on the trailer, but those are just details)
