Let’s Go Flying! Episode 2 – Myakka River, Florida

This was a short series of flight over the Myakka River near Venice, Florida as I practiced with dual batteries, 10″ props, and the new gimbal for the quadcopter.
These flights were really nerve wracking, since the copter is now WAY heavier than it used to be (so it responds slowly) – I didn’t know for sure how long the batteries would last – and there were lots of trees and whatnot to run into by mistake (and the old Phantom adage of “if you get in trouble, hit the gas and go straight up” didn’t work here for obvious reasons!), and of course, flying out over the river…which was really the only clear space to fly…

And, naturally, I did a lousy job keeping the extra wires and whatnot out of the camera frame! I was much more concerned with keeping them out of the props!
