Giving Bertha

After Eric spent most of the night in the comparative cool (80s cooling into the 70s, vs. the high of 106 yesterday) moving into Tilly the Twooth, Nomadic Fanatic and I delivered Bertha to my mom this morning. She was delighted. The van is so much smaller than the Tioga, she feels much more comfortable in/with it than she did the Tioga.

It’s obvious that Teah likes the new space MUCH more than she liked either the YarrVee or Tilly the Twooth, as well.

Off camera, my mom and I discussed the fact that the van is an E350 and has a towing capacity somewhere around 6000-7000 pounds. There is a very real possibility that the most feasible way for her to see the country in her golden years would be to ditch the rack on the back of the van, and substitute a moderately lightweight (3000-5000 pound) travel trailer – she could tow the trailer to a location, then use the van for overnight trips to see the sights away from her temporary home base.
(Of course, she’d need Lojack and a solid hitch lock on the trailer, but those are just details)
